Full Report:

By the end of Week 2 of our 2012 Japan trip, rice was starting to come out of my ears.  Because we had the JR Pass and were constantly on the move, bentos had become our main source of food throughout our trip.  You can not even imagine how many bentos we ate……

That is not even half the bentos we consumed……

After days of this, I was yearning for an entirely different kind of lunch.  As we were trudging through Hiroshima Station, I noticed a shop with the sign Takaki Bakery above it and immediately got excited.  Takaki Bakery is a part of the Andersen Group which is THE most famous bakery in Hiroshima.  Founded in 1948, the founder of the Andersen group learned how to make all of his delicious breads and pastries in Denmark.  There is even an Andersen store in Copenhagen in the famous Tivoli Gardens.

In the shop, I immediately found my lunch for the day, a set filled with a variety of different sandwiches: egg salad, fried chicken, strawberry jam, korokke, and ham.  M picked out a bag of sweet breadsticks.  I cannot tell you how good it was to be eating bread after so long!  It tasted like manna from the heavens.

After that meal, it was like my taste buds got reset.  All of a sudden Japanese food tasted really good again, even the bentos!
